How to Reactivate a School-Provided Windows License Key when working off-site for more than 180-days
Last Updated 2 years ago
When your school-provided computer or BYOD with a school-provided Enterprise/Education license key hasn't contacted our internal Volume Licensing Server (KMS) for over 180-days; Windows becomes deactivated and a watermark is displayed on your screen in the bottom right corner requesting that the system requires activation. Follow these steps to re-activate Windows on your computer; when you are unable to return on-site and are working remotely:
- Make sure you are logged in to your computer as your TC account. Following these steps from a Personal account will not work.
- Open the TC Software Centre app:
In your Start Menu; search for "Software Center" (American Spelling).
- Once in our Software Centre app, use the search box in the top right corner to look for our Activation tool. Enter "Activation" into the search field. Then click on the Windows Activation Helper tool that comes up as a search result. If nothing appears; please check you are logged in as your TC User account. Reboot the computer and login again as TC if unsure.
- Now click the Install button to launch the tool. Wait for the tool to install and run.
- The Windows License Activation should now be completed and the watermark removed from your screen. If you continue to have issues. Reboot the computer once more; repeat the above steps. Additionally, log a support ticket with us for further help or reply back to this message.
